it's been a tough week
Go On got cancelled.
The Toronto Maple Leafs lost in Game 7 (4-1 LEAD AND YOU LOST?!).
And the Mom was revealed on How I Met Your Mother and I missed it?!
Fack.
I can’t even describe my anxiety from last night.
I have to say, Krysia was highly entertained by my screaming, shouting, covering my face/eyes.
Well played, boys. Solid effort.
like the classy broads we are
Drinks, dinner and Game 7 tonight with the British Sensation Krysia.
Go Leafs go!
PS: Dear Downtown Toronto, please do not riot, because I live here and I don’t want you to ruin my pretty place. Thanks.
i'm sensing an ulterior motive. . . .
Happy Mother’s Day, everyone!
Had another terrific but tiring weekend — Dave and I watched the super late showing of Iron Man 3 last night, and I gotta say, I wasn’t blown away. It was a solid 7 out of 10. Most of Saturday was dedicated to shopping, grocery shopping and eating too much.
Mmmm, heaven.
Last weekend, Mama Noogs called and we made arrangements to go shopping and...
make that 21
Just received the shocking news that another one of my colleagues will be leaving.
Unlike #19 and #20/Minion*, #21’s exit was announced to the staff. He had given his two cents about how #19 and #20/Minion were treated and had pointed out that their exits should have been announced to everyone, rather than swept under the rug.
I am sincerely surprised to loose #21 right now. We get along...
go, leafs, go!
Me: "Hey, Lawrence."
Dave's brother Lawrence: "Hey."
Me: "Oh, don't leave. Dave and I are going to watch the game too."
Lawrence: "Oh yeah? I didn't know. I invited some guys over."
Me: "So . . . what, you're ashamed of us?"
Lawrence: "What?! No!"
Me: "We didn't tell you we were watching the game here, so you invited guys over. But now that you know we're watching, you wouldn't have invited people over."
Lawrence: "No!"
Me: "Mmmhmmmm."
policy, my ass
So scratch the “two weeks notice.”
The Powers that Be told her to leave today.
I was and am sincerely shocked. They didn’t give her the opportunity to say goodbye to anyone.
bomb has been dropped
Minion/Heidi* gave her two weeks notice.
Fuck my life.
how to react
Minion/Heidi* has just informed me that she intends to give her two weeks’ notice today.
If she follows through, she would be the 20th person to leave this company during my tenure. The 19th leaving last week Thursday.
When she goes, that means I’m trapped doing Saturdays again. But I am resolved: if they ask me to work every Saturday again, I will — well, you know....

I really should be updating more, but I’m kind of lazy/unmotivated.
But first — updates!
Roommate Katheryne is no longer going to Paris — she’s going to Berlin instead! Lucky biotch. It’s so hard when two European architecture firms want you … .
Work has been … sigh. We lost our 19th person today, someone near and dear to my heart. I was not impressed...
way to make me look bad
All weekend has been hectic for me. On Saturday I worked, then met up with Dave for dinner and hanging out. We ended up back at his place, after a marathon of shopping (HMV had a sale, and I may have gotten a wee bit too enthusiastic with my DVD purchases), and watched movies into the night. Come Sunday, I was at my parents’ helping them prepare and organize. The renovation guys had already...
bon voyage!
This spring and summer is certainly going to be a busy one for me!
First and foremost: the warmest congratulations to my fantastically talented friend and roommate, Katheryne, on her incredible opportunity! Katheryne will be working in Paris for four months, interning at an architecture firm!
Félicitations, mon ami!
Unfortunately, that means we were on the hunt for someone to sublet...
18
Okay, sorry guys, did another recount and it’s 18 people through the doors at DP since I started. I forgot our former accountant, and two women who went on maternity leave and never came back.

40% money, 60% management
If I had to split my job dissatisfaction out of a percentage of 100%, that’s how I would break it down.
Job dissatisfaction is a very common problem — and before I experienced it, I thought it was rather clichéd. You don’t like your job? Suck it up, most people don’t. But then I saw how flawed management can be, and how this dissatisfaction can spread through the ranks.

a sublime weekend
What an incredible weekend!
Thursday night, Roommate Katheryne and I watched A Walk to Remember on TV, and I switched us back and forth between Undercover Boss Canada, and then coerced Katheryne to watch Law & Order: SVU. Yesterday, Dave and I hung out with some friends who happen to have this incredibly adorable and slightly overweight (to my delight) baby, had AMAZING food and relaxed....
i've been bit
. . . by the home reno bug.
That was lame, but I couldn’t resist.
Regardless, YES, I have been weirdly interested in home decor and renovations lately. Partly because my room is utilitarian and not particularly feminine, and just generally because it’s spring now and I want to spruce up my space.
Roommate Katheryne and I live in a gorgeous townhouse/condo, and I sincerely...

My month just got THIS much better.
hide yo wife, hide yo kids
Shit’s going down at DP. I anticipate a great deal of drama in the future. Stay tuned!
Oh, and it has little to do with me. Surprisingly, it involves other staff members. I’m staying out of trouble, I swear!
uh oh
The minion a.k.a Heidi* (new girl who is sloppy at work, but I guess she’s not the “new girl” because she’s been here since August 2012) has officially told the Powers That Be that she’s unhappy and highly unlikely to renew her contract in August.
Which means she has one foot out the door.
Which means, “SHIT!” for me.
If the Powers That Be ask me to...

My email may have been hacked, but I’ve got old Backstreet Boys hits on repeat.
I can still salvage this day.

Never, ever, look at food blogs before lunch.
It is a slow, painful form of torture.
Oh, the sadism.

The more things you will know.
The more that you learn,...

never came up, my ass
Amari: "Wait, you're Vietnamese?"
Me: "What?"
Amari: "You're Vietnamese?!"
Me: "How long have we been friends?! Of course I'm Vietnamese!"
Amari: "I didn't know that!"
Me: "Years. YEARS! We have been friends for years and you didn't know that?"
Amari: "It never came up."
Me: "Have you seen my last name? It's the most popular Vietnamese last name in the WORLD."
Amari: "Hey, I have a friend whose Chinese with the same last name."
Me: "He's probably Hakka Vietnamese. I'm deeply wounded. You racist -- you thought I was Chinese, didn't you?"
Amari: "It was a logical conclusion."
I’m feeling a wee bit TREMENDOUSLY under-appreciated and undervalued at work. While I am trying to maintain the morale of my colleagues, it’s a weak and transparent facade because everyone knows that the Powers That Be are being unrealistic, demanding and ungrateful bastards.
It’s going to be a Good Wife, glass of wine and ice cream kind of night.
FYI
There was no motivation for the previous quote; it was just a good, honest one.
Oftentimes we say goodbye to the person we love without wanting to. Though that...

this week in review
This week has been bananas! My boss, Amy* was in Hong Kong, leaving You Know Who in charge. This were definitely hectic at work, as seen by my previous post. What can I say? Sometimes it gets crazy at work.
In other news, my cousin Theresa came into town. It has been years since Theresa was in Toronto last — hello, Rosie wasn’t even in the world when she last visited. Dave and I took...
shoot me.
Shoot me now.
It’s one of THOSE days today.
Fackfackfackfackfack, so stressed! I enjoy a day that’s hopping, but not a day where I am BOMBARDED with crap! Crap from clients who AREN’T mind! Because these clients belong to my boss, who happens to be out of the country! Unfortunately, I am the only one who can deal with it because I’m running shizz. The miniion *Heidi...
Chuc Mung Nam Moi!
(Translation: Happy New Year!)
So the parents and I took an impromptu trip to Ottawa this weekend, and it was really great to see the fam. Of course, we were coming hours after the big storm hit Toronto and Ottawa, so the roads were dicey and we saw several abandoned cars and huge trucks in ditches on the highway. Luckily, we arrived safely.
We arrived early Saturday afternoon, and returned to...
seasonal gloominess is real
I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately, and I think winter has been a major factor. I’ve been particularly uninspired and restless at work, and not in the sunniest of moods lately. I pinpointed my problem at work (lack of a work wife, but I’ll get into that some other time) but I think the general problem can be attributed to winter.
Ugh. Winter.
We were hit with a LOT of snow...
DON'T POKE THE DRAGON!
Our office manager is like a captain on a naval ship: she is in charge, keeps us all in line, and she will throw you overboard is you mess with her.
She can be delightfully hilarious, but you never, EVER, question her authority.
Today, a foolish colleague did.
Said Office Manager is currently in a dangerous mood: because of the move to the new office, Office Manager is in charge of...

in the word of Eddard Stark, "Winter is coming."
Toronto has been plunged into the depths of a frigid hell, and I sweartagod, my eyeballs froze when I walked to the streetcar this morning.
