looking through a telescope
I guess this would be a good a time as any to look over my academic future; the winter/spring term has begun, and things are starting to build up. UofT’s reading week takes place at the end of February, so of course, everything is due as of the 28th and onwards. In order to beat the rush, the inevitable informative books being taken out, the long line ups for elevators and fighting people...
not just for creeping
It’s a miracle! My Facebook account was actually used as an effective mode of reuniting old friends! The old friend in question — Andrea — was an old classmate from my elementary school days. We kind of had a Disney-esque relationship: we absolutely hated each other for some unclear reason in first grade, and then bonded over reading time. We were besties (yes, I just said...
get better soon, minivan!
If you’re wondering why I have a picture of Call of Duty’s Black Ops, wonder no more: I recently discovered the addictive powers of the game and now anticipate hours of blowing up zombies.
The woman responsible for introducing me to this weirdly satisfying game? Veronica! My girl Minivan has been MIA lately from school, and I just thought I’d take the time right now to wish...
yes, this really happened
The date started pretty great, until it didn’t. You’ll all enjoy this story, even I had to laugh at it.
I had planned for a couple of weeks the perfect surprise date for Joseph. It took a lot of thinking and a bit of planning; I wanted something fun, memorable but easy my on wallet. After some brainstorming, I finally landed on the perfect date:
Tobogganing!
It actually turned out...
starbucks, whatever happened to you?
Is it just me, or has the once infamous customer service skills of Starbucks seriously and rapidly declined over the years? Honestly! Robarts Library has a Starbucks, which is a daily nightmare experience; it’s a complete fiasco. Horrendous lines, with usually only TWO employees manning the station, without the proper supplies and ingredients.
Seriously, no milk for coffee?
No cream for...
Joseph got a new toy, a Nikon d7000. He was really psyched to play with the video feature, which results in the above clip.
Things you should know:
I already posted a photoset of this day, but to reiterate, this video was taken the first time Joseph and I went skating in 2011. It was also the third time I ever went skating in my life.
The rink we were at was at Nathan Phillips Square in...
Ever wonder what Joseph does in his spare time? ^ that. You think I’m joking… .

whypeoplethinki’mweird#8: um well..this pretty much sums me up..on most days (just add a little oprah impersonation somewhere in there and we’re good)
second chance -- booyah!
Sooooo remember how I got served by my Soviet Russian exam? And how most of my class bombed it? Welllllllll, the prof announced today she would be giving us study guides for the next exam AND will be dropping the lowest mark!
BOOYAH!!!!!
A second chance! How glorious (yes, I definitely just said ‘glorious’)! I am going to study my ass off more than ever, I’ll be haunting...

rewind, recap
The first week of the semester is traditionally soft: you know, “Here’s the syllabus, this is what I expect, blahblahblah.” It’s a good time to get a feel of your professor and the course, and to find out whether or not you wanna stick around. As I posted earlier, my Baltic history professor is an Estonian Gru, a very very cheerful version of Gru. My witch-huinting...
the second last go
Tomorrow is the first day of classes for me, and I’m experiencing a strange mix of trepidation and anticipation. As per the description of my blog, I try to mention my struggles and accomplishments in life and in my academic career, but I like to throw in a lot of random stuff (hello, check out my kooky picture below).
My grades definitely could have been better, I’m far from pleased...
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta vs. Anne...
For the last year or so, puff sleeves and shoulder emblishments have been all the rage in fashion. Mostly inspired by the outlandish antics and wardrobes of one Stefani Joanne Angelina Geranotta (aka. Lady Gaga), retailers like H&M, Forever 21, Aritzia and other popular stores have begun to offer puff sleeves and shoulder detailing on their products.
While at work the other day, I was musing...
the first real snow
Today was the first real snowfall of 2011, and I loved it. Seriously. My relationship with winter is like my relationship with the rain: so long as I’m prepared for it, then I love it. If I’m not, I’m miserably unhappy and crabby.
Anyways, after our marathon of Harry Potter movies (stop hatin’, you know you love them too), Joseph and I bundled up and shovelled some snow....
first date of 2011: tim burton exhibit
For our first date of the year, Joseph and I went to see the long-anticipated Tim Burton Exhibit at the Bell Lightbox theatre. Burton is the mastermind of many popular films like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Batman, Batman Returns, Alice in Wonderland (2010 version), James and the Giant Peach, Sleepy Hollow and so many others.
Sidenote: it wasn’t until I entered...
