Last night, DP hosted a charity event for a great organization called Nanny Angel Network, which offers free childcare for mothers with cancer. Amazing, right? Your’s truly attended, and my friend Doug was my date for the evening.
I won’t deny that my expectations were kinda low, but you know what? It was really good! The venue was gorgeous (seriously), and there was a good crowd. The charity got a cut of whatever the bar made, and the booze was flowing (and overpriced).
AND GUESS WHAT?!
I won a raffle prize! At the door I bought three raffle tickets and won 4 tickets to the Blue Jays game on May 28th! Wooooooot! I never win anything! Before this year, I’d never been to a professional athletic event, even though Toronto has so many teams. And then, bam! Basketball game with Dave, hockey game with Natalie and now baseball!
Doug and I had a great time people creeping, making our usual commentary about the species of guests that arrived (lots of plaid for the guys, lots of Aritzia for the girls, and an undertone of casual wealth lingering in the air) and playing with the fake crystals that decorated the tables.
You should have seen the dumb crap Doug and I did. We’re really cool.
The night ended early because I still had to get up at 6:30 am this morning for work. And now the long weekend is upon us!
Not a bad start, not bad at all.
